With a cracker of a year in 2010, the ‘Dabangg’ Khan had the cash registers ringing even as his ‘Wanted’ was judged the biggest hit of 2009. Industry is abuzz with rumours that the star might just complete his hattrick at the BO with the Malayalam hit Bodyguard’s Hindi remake ‘My Love Story’.

The season of Eid has worked wonders for Salman Khan. Both his last two blockbusters ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Wanted’ released around the holy season and it is expected that his next too will hit the screen at the same time. The actor is paired with Kareena Kapoor in the film, which will be directed by Siddique.

On being asked to Salman, if he feel the pressure to deliver a hit third time in a row? He said, “No, I don’t feel the pressure. In fact, I don’t want anyone including the actors, producer or director to feel any pressure. If a film has everything that the public wants in an entertaining movie, it will work, regardless of the weekend it opens in.”

‘Dabangg’ released during a relatively no-competition week. Is he planning the same for My Love Story? “That’s something that I didn’t decide. We set a date and stuck to it. Even this year, I’m not going to decide which other film or films will release with mine,” says Khan.

“In any case, the number of films we produce in a year, and release in a week doesn’t vary with a common man’s income. It will increase at its own pace. So he will watch only those films that promise him paisa vasool entertainment. If my film promises that to him, it will work — whether it comes from one, none or many films at the box office that week”, the actor added.

In 2004, Salman dared to play an ’AIDS infected’ guy in Revathy’s film on AIDS awareness ’Phir Milenge’. The actor also has his own NGO ’Being Human’ which works for the underprivileged. Instead of asking his rich actor friends for funds, he chose to sell his paintings, merchandise, clothes and accessories to facilitate finance to his NGO.

After Aids and Poverty, Salman has now taken up the cause of Cancer Awareness. The actor has sent a message across to all those who ill-treat Cancer survivors at workplace. Salman has even added his name to the ’World Cancer Declaration’.

His personal message on the declaration reads, "Kisi cancer patient ko naukari se nikalla toh bhagwan usse duniya se nikalega." (If you ask a Cancer patient to leave his job, god will make you leave the world).

The actor has also asked his fans to support him in the cause.

I’m informed that the actor owes his red eye to one of his pet dogs. Seems he was playing with them before his Being Human show the other weekend... When suddenly, one of his bachchas got a tad irritated and in an attempt to brush his master Sallu’s hand aside, ended up pawing near his eye. Bas, aur kya? Sallu rushed to wash his eye... but by then the damage was done.

Salman Khan Refuse Eye Surgery Rumours

When Salman Khan sported glares at three recent events in the city - an episode of Bigg Boss 4, the launch of Being Human watches and the Being Human fashion show at HDIL India Couture Week - rumours of him having undergone eye surgery to hide eye bags started doing the rounds. However the new media-savvy Khan was quick to refute these rumours.

"I was okay to walk the ramp without the glares but everyone who saw my eye got scared. So I thought it best to wear the ’chashmas’ (glares)," Salman tweets. "It was just a small scratch near the eye. But because of all the commitments with ’Bigg Boss’, launch of Being Human watches and the Being Human fashion show, had to attend all these functions and the blood clot spread to the whole eye." He adds, "Of course it hurts and vision is slightly blurred, but will be fine in a few days."

The actor has been asked to rest and was forced to miss the Dabangg DVD launch event held at Landmark on Tuesday. The film’s producer and Salman’s brother, Arbaaz, refuted the rumour again, saying, "The doctor has advised Salman to take rest for at least a week or the clot may spread further or get infected. As of now, he is following the doctor’s advice and as much as he would have liked to be here, he couldn’t make it."

But the crowd would have none of it and kept asking for Salman until actor Sonakshi Sinha took matters into her own hands and commanded "Khamosh", in her father Shatrughan Sinha’s style. "Buy the DVD and you can watch Salman live for the entire two hours and three minutes of the film’s duration," she said.

Bollywood Is Reason For World's Water Shortage

What is the prime reason for the world’s water shortage? Bollywood films, according to a prominent Pakistani paper.

"The shortage of water is a key global issue these days. And what is the reason for this shortage? Believe it or not, Bollywood films," a report in the Urdu daily Jang said Tuesday.

"Bollywood not only spends money like water on its films but prodigious waste of water is also a habit of Bollywood producers and directors," it said, noting in that current Salman Khan superhit Dabangg, one scene which showed the heroine (Sonakshi Sinha) getting wet in the rain "used 180,000 litres of water".

Giving other examples, it said another picture dealing with the 2007 floods in Mumbai used a whopping 3,600,000 litres of water for filming just once scene of the deluge, while the Shah Rukh Khan film My Name is Khan used 2,400,000 litres of water.

"All this was not ordinary water but specially ordered and purified water," it said, noting potable water is not available for half of India’s population.

"Akshay Kumar starrer De Dana Dan, like its name, wasted water ’de dana dan’ - as much as 8, 400,000 litres," it said, adding it was noteworthy that acclaimed director James Cameron in filming his Oscar-winning Titanichad only need of 450,000 litres of water.
